Description
As one of the newest items to be released from Seiko for 2012, the Seiko Ananta Multi-Hand Automatic Limited Edition “Urushi Lacquer” SPB027 was virtually unheard of until its official release in December. This model was not debuted at the Basel Fair like everything else Seiko launched. This latest addition to the Ananta line up is limited to only 500 pieces for the world, and it will not likely be around long.
The SPB027 is a take on the SPB021, but with a black hard coated case and bracelet (very similar to a PVD coating). The dial on the SPB027 also follows in suite with previous Ananta limited editions, having an Urushi lacquer dial. This hand lacquered dial is immaculate in character. Completely smooth, and jet black. The dial gives the rose gold and well lumed hands and indexes a clean and crisp look that adds tremendous legibility to the piece. It almost appears that the applied parts of the dial (indexes, power reserve, etc) seem to rest in the lacquer, unlike some of its predecessors which gave more of a floating appearance.
The black coated stainless steel case measures out at 42mm wide and 12.4mm thick. Compared to the original releases in the Ananta series, this is a much more conservative size, and adds a good diversity to the line. The overall weight of the watch is 186g, and wears very comfortably. The crystals for the case front and back are sapphire, and the front has Seiko’s proprietary Super-Clear Coating, for anti-glare.
The movement is Seiko’s in house automatic (with self wind feature) 6R21. The 6R21 has 208 parts, 29 jewels, 28,800 bph and over 45 hour power reserve. The watch has day and date wheels at 3 and 6 o’clock, and a power reserve indicator at the 9 o’clock. There are a great amount of complications in this piece, especially considering the price.
The retail on the Seiko Ananta Limited Edition Multi-Hand SPB027 is $3,000.
Seiko Limited Edition #147/500…very rare…complete set and in Excellent condition! There are a couple of very minor spots where the black coating has worn away, but nothing that actually effects the presentation of this magnificent timepiece!
